"All leaders are bright and great problem solvers - but they are effective if only they really knew what the problem to solve was."

Satya Nadella, CEO Microsoft

Why the blind spots?

In our constant attempts to go faster and be more productive, we are either always forward looking or often end up making the same mistakes knowingly or unknowingly. This can be either due to extreme time and cost pressure, greater expectations, our blind spots or as a result of the big egos.

Abstract Background

What could be done?

A team collectively needs to zoom out to really understand the problems - this is not about just key performance indicators or having top talent. Its about the human dynamics and understanding those blind spots.

Our guiding principle

“Teamwork begins by building trust ,being open and being in a safe environment.”

What is a CSuite Retro?

Borrowed from the 'agile' methodology, CSuite Retro is an incredibly powerful and honest way to reflect on the past, celebrate the successes, introspect into areas that did not go well and can be improved. The secret sauce is the immersive and experiential activity, which kick starts a typically 4 hour session, in order for senior leaders to be able to feel in a safe environment and be able to have, the not so comfortable deep dives.

Software companies for nearly 2 decades and digital teams in traditional companies, more recently as part of agile, do a retro with similar principles every 2 weeks. This practice, unfortunately has often been overlooked at senior management and at the C Suite.

Mud Race

How does it help?

It helps avoid making recurring mistakes, brings the unpleasant yet important discussions on the table, celebrate successes & creates an atmosphere of collaboration and avoids making knee jerk decisions.

Teams that do structured retrospectives or debriefs are typically 25% more effective.
